In 1968, the newly married Russ and Peg Vanderlois couldn't afford Christmas and decided to give homemade candy for presents. Friends and relatives with whom they shared their confections convinced them that they should make candy full-time. “Everybody should have a chance to enjoy something this good,” they urged. |
So Peg and Russ began the business of making candy – but no mass production for them. Instead of large quantities of a few great products, they enjoy making small batches of many varieties…always experimenting with new taste-tempting combinations of ingredients.
Van's Chocolates makes more than 15 different flavors of creams, 20 different truffles, buttery caramels and many more speciality candies.

In 1988, an Asheville, North Carolina, retiree began telemarketing plastic key cards from his basement office, while, in Wilmington, Delaware, two young electronic technicians spent their evenings at a kitchen table repairing innovative locks that used those new plastic key cards. |
The two companies that were launched in such unassuming circumstances, PLASTICARD PRODUCTS, Intl and LOCKTECH, Intl, merged. The new company, PLASTICARD-LOCKTECH INTERNATIONAL (PLI), is the largest key card manufacturer in the United States.
Their state-of-the-art printing presses are capable of handling jobs of all sizes. Plastic or metal cards may be customized for clubs, conventions, organizations, hotels or gift cards.

Hendersonville's best-kept secret! This mill, nestled in the heart of Hendersonville, turns out high-quality, natural fiber textile products. Natural fiber bed coverlets, shams, throws and scarves made by the Oriole Mill are woven on looms that use special software to enable artists to create one-of-a-kind fiber artwork. The heart of the mill is custom weaving for designers. |
