While we won't start taking reservations until April, we want to give you a heads-up for this exciting opportunity to be with old friends and meet new ones at this full-service, lakeside South Carolina golf resort and state park all rolled into one.

Tucked away in a serene location and about a two and a half hour drive from Hendersonville, Hickory Knob sits along the rolling, wooded shoreline of a 71,000-acre reservoir. We're sure you will be as pleasantly surprised by the Park’s many amenities and recreational opportunities as the Committee was. For instance, Hickory Knob operates an 18-hole championship golf course, plus offers a full-service restaurant, skeet shooting, boat ramp, fishing, archery range, meeting facilities, and more than 70 lodge-style rooms. 

What your 4 day, 3 night Lifelong Learning Getaway includes:

  • Four educational classes: During your stay, you will be able to nurture your intellect along with your love of nature.  Stimulating educational programs will be offered in the morning and afternoons on Monday and Tuesday.  Topics and presenters will be announced at a later date.

  • All meals:  Hickory Knob offers a full-service restaurant. On Sunday evening, you will get to enjoy their Deluxe Dinner Menu.  Guests may pre-select from five entrées: 12 oz. Prime Rib, 2-piece Center Cut Pork Chops, Baked Tilapia or Fried Flounder, 12 oz. New York Strip Steak, or Chicken Roulade.  Dinners include a side salad, fresh baked bread, and beverage. Getaway guests will also receive two buffet-style dinners, three breakfasts, and two lunches.

  • Sunday evening mixer with cash bar.

  • Lodging: rooms include a color cable television, telephone, automatic coffee maker, and two double beds.

  • Wireless internet service is available at Hickory Knob. Most of the campus including lodge rooms, cabins, and meeting rooms can access wi-fi service. 

  • Evening entertainment.

Golf

  • Facilities include an 18-hole championship golf course, clubhouse, practice green, driving range, putting green, pro shop, and lounge.

  • Rates:  Senior 18 Holes weekday for $24.75 per person.  Rates include greens fee and cart. After 2 pm Special: All the holes you can play after 2:00 until dark. Weekday rate is $20.00 per person.

Fishing

  • Enjoy fishing in Strom Thurmond Lake for several species of bass, hybrid, crappie, perch, and stripers. A valid South Carolina fishing license is required, which can be purchased at the Front Desk. A seven-day license is available for $11.

  • Tackle Loaner Program: This park participates in the Tackle Loaner Program sponsored by the SC Dept. of Natural Resources. Rods and reels are available for loan at the park office.

Boating

  • A boat ramp provides private boat access to Strom Thurmond Lake available to Getaway guests at no charge. Boat docks are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Canoe/Kayak Rentals: Kayaks & the Canoe rent for $7/hour, $9/4 hours, or $14/day.

Park Store/Gift Shop: The gift shop offers a variety of souvenir items.


Swimming

  •  Swimming is permitted in Lake Thurmond and a swimming pool is available for Getaway guests. 

Archery

  • Available by appointment. $10 includes half-hour lesson; equipment provided.

Skeet Shooting

  • Skeet shooting is by reservation only and the rate is $16, which includes 25 clay pigeons; equipment provided.

Tennis Courts

  • Tennis courts are available at no charge for Getaway guests; equipment provided.

Trails

  • Hiking and Biking Trails: The bike/hiking trail, which is approximately 12 miles in length, travels through a pine forest and along the lake's edge providing opportunities for many scenic views.

The park also has a basketball court, volleyball court, horseshoe pit, tether ball, and ladder ball for Getaway guests.

Cost:  $345 per person double occupancy, $440 per person single occupancy. If you would prefer not to drive to the park, BRCLL may provide round-trip bus transportation for an additional $65 per person. A souvenir tee shirt commemorating our Getaway will also be available for $10.

Members of BRCLL may invite one non-member guest to attend the Getaway.
