Join us as we remember Henderson County icon Louise Howe Bailey (1915 – 2009). Louise’s son Joe Bailey and her friend Terry Ruscin will share musings from her last published work, plus family photos, and humorous anecdotes of the beloved columnist, author, and storyteller.
Terry Ruscin and Joe Bailey collaborated in finishing Louise’s last book, Historic Henderson County: Tales from Along the Ridges, published by The History Press of Charleston, SC, in 2010.
Joe Bailey Jr. is the eldest son of Louise Bailey. After serving four years in the U.S. Navy, he received a B.S. from UNCA and an M.S. in biology from Appalachian State. Joe was a career teacher in the Henderson County School system. He is an avid outdoorsman and is blessed with the Howe-Bailey sense of humor.
Terry Ruscin, author, photographer, and historian, is a member of the Henderson County Genealogical and Historical Society, Historic Flat Rock, Hendersonville’s Design Review Advisory Committee, and the Henderson County Historic Resources Committee. He is a close personal friend of the Bailey family.
