On myriad levels, World War II was a defining moment in world history. This was also true in the art world: It simply turned it on its ear! Dr. Paul Vanek's lecture/slide presentation will begin in post-war America and introduce the Abstract expressionists of the New York School. He will continue with a discussion of Pop Art, Hard Edge Painting, and the Minimalists.
Dr. Paul Vanek is a retired endodontist and university professor, having taught at the University of Michigan and the University of Toronto. An avid art collector since the 1960s, he left his practice for two years to focus on buying and selling art objects on the international art market. He has lectured on Modern Art before several professional dentist associations as well as at the UNCA’s College for Seniors, Isothermal Community College and here at BRCC. He returns to us by popular demand.
