Mark Whipple returns to BRCLL to continue his Astronomy series. This course will focus on the sun and the stars. It will begin with a study of the physical properties of the sun and its physics that allows the generation of radiant energy. The focus will then shift to other stars. How are they similar to and different from the sun? How can we measure distance, temperature, mass, diameter, age and evolution?

Mark Whipple has taught astronomy classes for BRCC for several years. He is a retired high school science teacher and a regular presenter at OLLI programs at the University of North Carolina at Asheville.
